Maria Sevastaki is ....

Maria Sevastaki is representing Greece in the Dutch Kunstenlab Deventer project «In Critical State».

The project is about the current political climate in the Netherlands and the way the artists relate to their fellow foreign artists reactions to the international crisis.

Maria Sevastaki is participating with photographic material, video and text addressing the crisis.

Bio

Born Sydney Australia, 1963. She grew up between Australia + Greece. She settled in Greece in 1981. Studied painting + theatrical design at the National School of Fine Arts in Athens. She was a holder of IKY (National Scholarship Foundation) during her studies. She has 13 personal + 30 group exhibitions + lectures in Greece + abroad. She has been distinguished by the Professors committee of the NSFA, The Greek Chambers of Fine Arts + the Inter national committee of the Florence Biennale as representative of GR in International exhibitions + conferences. Her works can be found in public spaces, museums, universities in Greece + abroad. She moves to Samos island in 1996 where she served as a Lyceum teacher of Visual Arts 97/99 + in primary education for 15 days. From '02 - 05' she is teaching Plastic Arts in her studio. She lives in Karlovassi on the island of Samos.
